シンチレーション検出器のような放射線検出器は通常、シンチレータと光検出器で構成され、光検出器の性能向上は放射線検出器の性能向上につながる。我々は光検出器の性能改善のため、微小構造体であるメタサーフェスに注目した。メタサーフェスはフラットでありながらレンズ機能を実現する新奇な光学材料である。今回の発表ではメタサーフェスの具体的な応用例として当社の光検出器の製品であるMPPCへの実装例について紹介したい。
