[11p-S401-18] Study on mixing and heating of microdroplets by surface acoustic waves
Keywords:surface acoustic wave
In the medical and biotechnology fields, there is a demand for a microfluidic system (MFS) that can move a minute amount of fluid because it is portable and requires only a small amount of specimens and chemicals. Surface acoustic waves (SAW) can be used for blood coagulation tests because they can be agitated and heated at the same time as the fluid is transported. Therefore, in this study, we mixed water droplets imitating a sample and glycerin droplets, and investigated how the temperature rise of the droplets due to SAW is related to the mixing location and viscosity of the droplets.
