△ [11p-S401-6] Tensile-stress dependence of piezoelectric polarization in biological fibrous tissues
Keywords:ultrasonic, piezoelectric polarization, Achilles tendon
The purpose of this study is to measure the piezoelectric polarization of biological fibrous tissues under tensile stress and to clarify its relationship to changes in the fibrous structure. When ultrasound (acoustic pressure) is irradiated to fibrous soft tissues, electrical polarization is generated, and the orientation of the fibrous tissues can be evaluated from the magnitude of the polarization. We measured the magnitude of the ultrasound-induced polarization in a slice of bovine Achilles tendon while applying tensile stress in a direction parallel to the fiber orientation.
