We performed single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) growth by alcohol catalytic CVD with a Co catalyst, and investigated chemical states of Co catalysts during SWCNT growth by in situ XAFS measurements. By using Ar, Ar/H ₂, and Ar/O₂ as carrier gases during the increase of temperasture, we investigated the effect of carrier gases on the yield and structure of grown SWCNTs.
