We have reported that the stacking faults in YBa2Cu3Oy(Y123) superconducting thin films prepared by fluorine-free MOD method can be controlled to a relatively low concentration by annealing in a water vapor containing atmosphere below 200°C. The faults concentration can be controlled by controlling the annealing conditions and additional oxygen annealing. In this study, we report the control of stacking faults. In the present study, the amount and distribution of stacking faults were controlled by annealing the prepared Y123 thin films in a water vapor atmosphere with controlled water vapor partial pressure, aiming at an essential understanding of the formation mechanism and its effect on the superconducting properties.
