Among various chemical methods for preparation of REBa2Cu3Oy (RE123) superconducting thin films, fluorine-free metal organic decomposition (FF-MOD) method is the most suitable for mass production because biaxially oriented thin films can be grown in a short time by a relatively simple solid-state reaction. In this study, we have optimized the sintering conditions for the improvement of Ic in the preparation of RE123 thin films on tape metal IBAD substrates (CeO2/LaMnO3/MgO/LaMnO3/Al2O3/Hastelloy) with a biaxially oriented intermediate layer that can be made longer by using the FF-MOD method. We are currently optimizing the sintering conditions to improve the Ic.
