[12a-N402-9] Improvement of Surface Flatness and Critical Current Asymmetry of Commercial REBa2Cu3Oy Tapes by Mechanical Polishing

Keywords:REBCO tape, asymmetric critical current, polishing

In order to improve the asymmetric critical current properties of commercial REBa2Cu3Oy (RE: rare earth, REBCO) tapes under in-plane magnetic field, the surface barrier against the magnetic flux on the REBCO film surface was enhanced by flatting with surface mechanical polishing. In the presentation, we will introduce the effect of different polishing methods on the surface flatness, and consider the correlations between the surface barrier and the asymmetry of the polished sample.
