In this work, we consider the problem of estimating displacement operations that follow a Gaussian distribution as a simplified problem of quantum error correction against Gaussian noise, which is important in optical continuous variable quantum computation. We show that there is a limit to the estimation accuracy when only Gaussian states and operations are used, and that the limit can be broken by using experimentally feasible states such as single-photon states. In this talk, I will discuss in detail the derivation of the Gaussian limit and the estimation using non-Gaussian states.
