Generally, terahertz waves are propagated with low loss by a rectangular waveguide, but their metal structure and tiny dimensions make them difficult to apply to integrated circuits. On the other hand, the H guide and the NRD guide, with a simple structure in which the dielectric trip is sandwiched between two metal substrates, are known to have low loss even in the high-frequency region. In this study, we design rectangular waveguide/NRD guide-H guide transition in the 325-500 GHz frequency band for a liquid-crystal loaded terahertz wave phase shifter and analyze the transmission characteristics.
