[12p-N321-4] Non-Hermitian coupled mode theory for cavity arrays with contrast of radiation loss

We derive a non-Hermitian coupled-mode theory for evanescently coupled cavities with contrast of raditation loss. Here, we reveal finite imaginary parts of inter-cavity couplings, which appear as the change in net radiation loss by the interference of cavity modes. We also design two coupled point-defect photonic crystal nanocavities with an ideal exceptional point, which is induced purely by radiation and fully analyzed by our model.
