When epitaxial thin films are used as model electrodes, the thickness and/or orientation can be controlled, which is effective for the understanding of the mechanism of Li-ion (de)intercalation to electrode materials. We performed Li-ion (de)intercalation to spinel-type LiV2O4 epitaxial films and in-situ structural analysis. In the case of thin films, it was always a single phase, but in the case of thick films, a new phase was formed. These results indicate that the Li-ion intercalation process is different depending on the film thickness.
