[13p-N301-1] The formation of ordered structure of liquid molecules on FFM in liquid environment

The experiment of sliding friction in liquid environment using the SPM technique have shown characteristic features in observed friction force, which are expected to be associated with the microscopic behavior of liquid molecule at solid-liquid interface, but its origin remains unclear. We perform calculation of SPM computational model of the surface of rock-salt NaCl crystal in liquid ethanol to investigate the microscopic behavior at the interface region. It is shown that the formation of ordered structure of ethanol molecules at the interface gives rise to low friction force.
