[21p-P07-5] Real-Time Subcarrier FMCW Radar based on a Terahertz-wave Resonant-Tunneling-Diode Oscillator

Resonant-tunneling-diode (RTD) oscillators have the potential to bridge the terahertz gap. We previously reported a subcarrier FMCW radar principle that achieves distance measurements with a standard deviation error of 0.61 mm. However, the measurement time was about 1 minute. Now we report a real-time (4 ms) version of that measurement, which we obtained by closely investigating the device characteristics and optimizing the biasing and the modulation conditions, as well as by improving the signal processing.
