[23a-P02-5] High-speed Natural Vibration of Crystals Induced and Resonated by Photothermal Effect
Keywords:high-speed crystal actuation, photothermal effect, natural vibration
Anisole crystals exhibited large and fast bending by the photothermal effect, even without photoisomerization and phase transition. Single crystal X-ray diffraction at various temperatures revealed the relative large thermal elongation coefficient of 2.47×10-4/K. When the rod-shaped crystal was irradiated with UV light (375 nm), the crystal exhibited very fast and relatively large bending in the time constants of some milliseconds, accompanying with the weak natural vibration. By pulsed UV light with the same frequency as the natural frequency, the bending motion was amplified by the resonance.
