In small-molecule organic electronic devices, the crystallinity and orientation of the organic thin film greatly affect the electrical properties of the device. Naphthalene diimide (NDI) derivatives are useful as n-type semiconductor materials and are known to form polycrystalline thin films. It is known that the substituents on the imide nitrogen of NDI derivatives have a significant effect on the orientation, and materials such as Bzl-NDI form thin films with an erect molecular structure. On the other hand, aromatic acid anhydrides such as NTCDA and materials without substituents are expected to show a different orientation from Bzl-NDI. Therefore, we thought that the orientation of Bzl-NDI might be changed by forming Bzl-NDI films on them.
