[17p-Z01-3] Imaging of viruses and application to development of therapeutics

Asuka Nanbo1 (1.Nagasaki Univ.)

Keywords:viruses, imaging systems, development of therapeutics

Electron microscopy has been applied to the analysis of virus structures, because viruses are generally too small for an analysis by conventional light microscopy. Recent remarkable innovation of microscopic technologies allows us to monitor the dynamics of virus infection in live cells and even in animal models as well as imaging of microstructural features of virus particles. This lecture gives an outline of the microscopic technologies for imaging of viruses and introduces a visualization system for Ebolavirus infection and its application to development of therapeutics.
