The Japanese government plans to launch a "Materials Strategy" in March 2021, and prior to that, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) jointly released "Toward a Government Strategy for Strengthening Materials Innovation Capabilities". Based on the above, and referring to various policies and R&D trends related to "data x materials" in major countries, I will present the expectations and prospects for how Japan will develop data science-driven materials through DX.
