We are developing thermoelectrics which can autonomously power the trillion IoT sensors & devices necessary to realize Society 5.0. In order to overcome the challenges for application, we have been developing new principles and strategies, such as utilizing magnetism, nanostructures, defect engineering for significant enhancement of thermoelectric material performance including ultra-high performance recently discovered. Furthermore, on the applicative aspects, we are developing thermoelectric modules fabricated with processes compatible with industry and mass production, module key technologies, and thermal management, in order to realize the first wide-scale application of thermoelectric power generation. Recently we have constructed a bulk thermoelectric power generation module composed of our newly developed materials, which can exceed the long time champion Bi2Te3-based modules.
