Thermal neutron flux can be measured accurately with short-time irradiation by combining the activation of a CsI scintillator and the cadmium filter method. However, when this method is applied to the measurement of thermal neutron flux in a reactor, the large negative reactivity of cadmium perturbs the neutron flux to be measured. In this study, in order to investigate the method of measuring thermal neutron flux in a thermal reactor without using the cadmium filter method, an experiment was conducted in the irradiation hole of the Kindai University reactor.
