We have developed a low-threshold silicon Raman laser using a high-Q nanocavity. This device is expected to be applied to silicon optical circuits and remote sensing. To achieve this, it is important to improve the excitation efficiency and to extract the Raman laser beam in the in-plane direction instead of the vertical direction. The techniques for improving the excitation efficiency and in-plane emission of the nanoresonator for the single resonance mode have been demonstrated by introducing a reflection mirror in the excitation waveguide. On the other hand, theoretical studies are insufficient in cases where wavelength conversion is involved using two resonance modes (excitation mode and Stokes mode), such as the Raman laser. This time, we report a Raman laser structure that emits a plane with high efficiency using the mode coupling theory.
