△ [18p-Z15-6] Fabrication of new compound EuCdSb2 by molecular beam epitaxy
Keywords:MBE, magnetotransport, Layered materials
Ternary layered pnictides ABSb2 (A : rare or alkaline earths, B : transition metals) host anisotropic Dirac cones based on Sb square nets, and interesting magnetotransport emerges especially by interaction to magnetism of A and/or B ions. Actually, nearly half of the ABSb2 materials has not been synthesized yet for all the combinations of A=Ca, Yb, Eu, Sr, and Ba and B=Mn, Zn, Cd, because it becomes difficult to stabilize ABSb2 with smaller A site and larger B site ionic radius. Here, we report fabrication of EuCdSb2 with the largest B site ionic radius, which is first stabilized in the thin film form by molecular-beam epitaxy. EuCdSb2 crystallizes in an orthorhombic Pnma structure with distorted Sb square nets. This material exhibits antiferromagnetic ordering of Eu magnetic moments and unique semiconducting transport.
