We report the photocatalytic activity of polyethylene glycol (PEG)-doped anatase/rutile-mixed phase TiO2 nanoparticles (A/R-TiO2 NPs) under visible light irradiation. The samples were prepared by mixing differing mixing amounts of PEG and A/R-TiO2 NPs and heating them at various temperatures for 1 h. The sample color predominantly changed from white color to black color as the temperature increased to 300 ℃. The photocatalytic activity of PEG-doped A/R-TiO2 NPs mixed at a mixing ratio of 30% and heated at 300 ℃ was greater than that of A/R-TiO2 NPs. This enhancement would be related to the large optical absorption and the bandgap narrowing effect due to the PEG doping.
