▲ [20p-B101-12] Magnetic recording read sensors using anomalous Hall effect
Keywords:magnetic recording, magnetic sensor, anomalous Hall effect
We propose read sensors for hard disk drives (HDDs) using anomalous Hall effect (AHE). The AHE reader will enable us to reduce the reader’s physical dimension to ~10 nm scale, which is necessary for the future ultrahigh density HDDs. Our estimation of signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) indicates that AHE reader with a high AHE material, such as Heusler alloys, may achieve a significant advantage of SNR compared to tunnel magnetoresistance reader. We will discuss issues for the AHE reader based on finite element method simulations.
