Dinitrogen pentoxide (N₂O₅) needs to be carefully handled to avoid the reaction with water and thermal decomposition and its storage also requires much care. Thus, centralized manufacturing is not suitable for N₂O₅ and on-site generation method can be more promising. Recently, we successfully generated N₂O₅ gas from air with high selectivity using two plasma reactors whose gas temperature is independently controlled. This technology can overcome the barriers for the use of N₂O₅ and preliminary results for N₂O₅ applications will be shown.
