STM luminescence measurements of a single molecule on an ultrathin insulating film grown on a metal surface enable us to investigate the electronic structure and excited states of an isolated molecule. In this study, we focused on ultrathin insulator films' role in adsorbing a molecule. We prepared KBr ultrathin film on Ag(111) and conducted STM measurements on a phthalocyanine molecule on KBr/Ag(111). By dI/dV and luminescence measurements using STM, we revealed that the phthalocyanine molecule was negatively charged on KBr/Ag(111) and clarified the excited state formation mechanisms of the charged molecule.
