We will present a high-power, single-longitudinal-mode laser source operating at 4.3 μm. A hybrid laser amplifier design was demonstrated combining a distributed feedback quantum cascade laser with an Fe:ZnSe amplifier. A nearly fourfold power improvement was achieved, indicating the feasibility of realizing power scaling of 4-5 μm mid-IR laser through this hybrid amplifier scheme.
