Yttrium iron garnet (YIG) is an attractive ferromagnetic insulator widely used in studies of magnon due to small damping and high spin density. While modulation of magnetic dynamics of a YIG slab by adjacent metals has been investigated, such studies in a YIG sphere have been scarce. In a YIG sphere with a circular metal band, we expect modulation of magnetic dynamics of a YIG sphere by loop current due to eddy induction and ac spin current. We fabricated a Pt band on a 1-mm-diameter YIG sphere by sputtering and measured resonance signals of the sample placed on coplanar waveguide (CPW) by vector network analyzer (VNA) while sweeping the applied static magnetic field. We compared the linewidth of ferromagnetic resonance (FMR) mode in different two geometrical band positions. As a result, a significant difference in the linewidths in the two positions was observed. Detailed investigation and discussion of the origin of the linewidth change are shown in the presentation.
