Keywords:graphene, infrared spectroscopy, high spatial resolution

Infrared spectroscopy is widely used to visualize compositional distributions and molecular structures. However, the spatial resolution of conventional infrared spectroscopy is as low as 10 µm due to the diffraction limit caused by the wave nature of light, making high spatial resolution imaging difficult. In this study, we developed a very small graphene light emitter and demonstrated infrared imaging that greatly exceeds the diffraction limit by using a completely new principle of directly utilizing the near field by scanning the sample on the emitter within close contact.
