[22p-P07-8] Hematite with oxygen defect: enhancement of photocatalytic performance
Keywords:photocatalysis, hematite, defect
Hematite (α-Fe2O3) is a promising material as a photocatalyst. In order to increase its performance, oxygen vacancy defects (VO) were intentionally introduced by a simple hydrothermal synthesis, and their effects were evaluated on the dye degradation performance. The VO of hematite was investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy. The results showed a good correlation between the amount of VO introduced and the photocatalytic performance, with up to a 12-fold difference.
