Powder electroluminescent (EL) devices fabricated via printing processes can reduce the material costs, production time, and the numbers of required equipment relative to those fabricated by semiconductor processes because the former are fabricated via printing processes. Thus far, surface roughness and substrate transmission influence of the EL characteristics in bottom-emission powder EL. To clarify the effects of surface roughness, we focused on emery paper and made a top-emission powder EL that is not affected by substrate transmission. As a results, we then found that relation between the EL properties and the surface roughness have been clarified.
