[22a-P02-3] Nanocarbon-based air-electrode catalysts developed for metal-air battery
Keywords:Air-electrode catalyst, nanocarbon
Metal-air rechargeable battery needs bifunctional air-electrode catalytic materials, which involve effective oxygen reduction/evolution at the air electrode at the discharge/charge process. We have developed new air-electrode catalysts using carbon nanoparticles synthesized by the solution plasma process. The developed carbon nanoparticles showed an excellent bifunctional oxygen reduction/evolution activity (ORR/OER), being much superior to that of the conventional carbon material: acetylene black. The carbon nanoparticles synthesized using the mixture composed of benzene and N-source showed the highest catalytic activity in Oxygen Reduction Reaction. The carbon nanoparticles synthesized using the mixture composed of benzene and P-source showed the highest catalytic activity in Oxygen evolution reaction.
