For introducing light-wave controlling devices to optical fiber network with high reliability, a glass fiber-based device is desired. To date, we have demonstrated the optical modulation based on Pockels effect in fiber-type sample by means of crystallization of a glass fiber. However, the glass-ceramic fiber has a pore, which causes the critical optical propagation loss higher than 10 dB/cm.In this study, we devote to improve the propagation loss lower than 1 dB/cm by filling a pore with the glass phase, whose refractive index is close to the surroundings.
