[22p-P03-3] Elucidation of growth mechanism of single-walled carbon nanotubes by in situ XAFS analysis: Comparison of Co and Ir catalysts

The chemical states of the catalyst particles during the growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes from Ir and Co catalysts are analyzed using in situ XAFS measurements.It is confirmed that the Ir catalyst exists almost in a metallic state during SWCNT growth, whereas the Co catalyst is mostly carbonized during SWCNT growth.This may be due to the difference in the carbon solubility and electronic state of Ir and Co, which are platinum group metals.
