(Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy [Bi2223] tape, which has practical high critical current properties for a wide range of applications, has been mass-produced as DI-BSCCO®. However, due to the intrinsically large electromagnetic anisotropy of Bi2223, its Jc at high temperatures and in magnetic fields is lower than that of RE123 material. On the other hand, the policy of increasing Pb substitution for the Bi sites with reduction of electromagnetic anisotropy is effective for reducing this issue. The purpose of this study is to develop Bi2223 tapes that show excellent critical current properties even in high magnetic fields.
