Keywords:Photochromism

We have focused on nano-photoisomerization in single crystals of photochromic diarylethene molecules, which exhibit reversible isomerization upon light irradiation. In this study, we investigated the elimination and re-formation of nano-sized photoisomerization pathways formed by local excitation on the surface of a single crystal in a colored state. We found that the pathway is partially erased by recoloring, compared to the case where the same pathway is measured continuously and once the crystal is recolored.
