Due to the recent technological innovation of intense terahertz (THz) pulses, ultrafast control of elementary excitations such as molecular vibrations, superconductivite quasi-particles, and charge density waves using THz electric fields has been actively studied. Broadband mid-infrared (MIR) pulses are important to study the ultrafast dynamics of these phenomena because most of them have the resonance energies in MIR range. In this study, we have developed an optical system to combine subcycle MIR and THz pulses in a coaxial configuration while maintaining their bandwidth.
