Keywords:Polydiacetylene, mechanochromism, Mechanobiology

Polydiacetylene (PDA), one of the mechanochromic materials, has been developed for application as a biosensor by utilizing its property of sensing external force with high sensitivity. However, the relationship between the dependence of the fluorescence intensity on the magnitude and direction of the external force has not been elucidated because it is difficult to measure using existing techniques. In this study, we will investigate the force-direction dependence of PDA luminescence by introducing a nano-friction force microscope for quantitative manipulation of horizontal force, which was recently constructed by Sugihara Lab.
