[24a-E307-2] Analysis of polarization propagation characteristics of birefringence-controlled terpolymer optical fiber doped with cyan dichroic dyes
Keywords:polymer optical fiber, zero-birefringence optical polymer, dichroic dye
A cyan dichroic dye with a high absorption coefficient was used as a dopant for a plastic optical fiber (POF) with a birefringence-reduced core. Orientation of the dichroic dye induced by the POF deformation can exhibit the stress vector by the intensity signal. Cyan dyes have favorable absorption peaks that match the acrylic POF's transmission window. Exceeding dye concentration was suggested to impact the polarization-maintaining property.
