We have been studying a vacuum electrospray droplet ion (V-EDI) beams produced by electrospray of aqueous solutions under vacuum. In this study, the surfaces of smooth polystyrene films irradiated by the V-EDI beams obtained from capillaries with different inner diameters were measured with several analytical methods, and the effects of capillary inner diameter on polystyrene sputtering were investigated.
