Observation of moire method using a scanning transmission electron microscope (STEM) is proposed as a method for detecting Li-ion conduction inside LiCoO2, which is a typical positive electrode material for all-solid-state Li-ion batteries, on a nanometer scale. The STEM moire method is expected to reduce sample damage because it detects a slight strain distribution with low electron beam irradiation, and it also has high temporal resolution and high spatial resolution.LiCoO2 thin film sample grown on a SrTiO3 substrate was observed for verification of battery sample observation by the STEM moire method.STEM moire pattern caused by the interference between the scanning grating spacing and the LiCoO2(003) lattice spacing is observed.
