Keywords:Fe-Ga, vertical Bridgman, magnetostriction properties

We grow single crystals of Fe-Ga magnetostrictive alloys that can be used for vibration power generation by the vertical Bridgman (VB) method. Samples with magnetostriction constant of 300ppm have been already obtained at a Ga composition of about 18at.%. In this study, slow cooling and quenching were performed on Fe-Ga samples with various surface conditions, and the effect of such heat treatment on the magnetostrictive properties was investigated.
