[15p-PA01-47] Electric field effects on magnetic anisotropy of Co/Ru/Co synthetic antiferromagnets
Keywords:artificial multiferroic, Synthetic antiferromagnet, spintronics
Recently, we found that the magnetic anisotropy and its electric field effect strongly depend on the magnetic coupling constant J in artificial multiferroic structure composed of a synthetic antiferromagnet Nb/Co/Ru/Co/Nb and a ferroelectric Pb (Mg1/3Nb2/3)O3-PbTiO3(011) (PMN-PT). Specifically, when J << 0, the easy axis direction of uniaxial anisotropy along PMN-PT[011] rotates by 90° with the application of an electric field due to magnetoelastic effect. In contrast, when J ≈ 0, the easy axis of magnetization tilts by 45° in the plane and the electric field effect disappears. In order to clarify the origin of such electric field effects on this unique magnetic anisotropy, here we report on the magnetic anisotropy and its electric field effect of samples with J = 0 in more detail.
