Coated organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) have the advantage of low-cost fabrication on flexible substrates. However, the wetting of the raw material solution on the surface of the substrate is difficult when the film is formed by the coating method on an insulating film with low interfacial trapping density. In this study, we investigated the formation of organic thin films on hydrophobic substrates by the ink-jet method, in which the substrate is locally made hydrophilic in order to control the behavior of the solution applied on the hydrophobic substrate.
