The crystal faces of Pd nanoparticles can be controlled by liquid-phase synthesis. In this study, hexagonal Pd nanosheets with plasmon resonance peaks in the near-infrared region were synthesized. Pd nanosheets were used as catalysts for the reduction of p-nitrophenol under dark, visible light, and near-infrared light irradiation, respectively. The rate constants of the reactions under light irradiation were larger than those in the dark. We also report the results using different reaction temperatures and the use of Pd nanosheet-Au nanorings as catalysts.
