[16a-A409-10] Optical Domain Bandwidth Tripling Using Image-Rejection AMUX with Si Optical Modulators

DA converters fabricated in a CMOS process are a bottleneck to broadband optical transmitters. We have demonstrated a 3:1 signal bandwidth extension using a CMOS IR-AMUX, but the bandwidth obtained with an electric AMUX is limited by the performance of the transistors. In this study, we propose and investigate a 3:1 bandwidth extension technique in the optical domain using optical modulators for analog multiplication. We designed an IR-AMUX using Si optical modulators and verified the 3:1 bandwidth extension by simulation.
