[16a-A409-9] Bandwidth Extension of Si Photonic Crystal Optical Modulators via Electro-Optic FIR Equalization

Si PCW modulators can reduce VπL to 1/10 or less of rib-type devices, and achieve small size and low capacitance. However, the EO bandwidth is limited to 38 GHz, and bandwidth extensin is required. In this study, the number of devided phase shifters was increased from two to three or more to improve the phase matching at high frequencies, and the FIR equalization technique using optical and electrical delays was applied. Simulation results expected improving EO bandwidth.
