Based on our research experience in the field of photonics and heat transfer engineering, we will show how photonics can be used to understand heat transport phenomena in semiconductors and to develop thermal control technologies. Phonon engineering has much to learn from photonics in its pioneering due to the similarity of transport properties between photons and phonons, and we will introduce ballistic and wave transport properties as well as heat transport phenomena and control techniques by their hybrid modes.
