Studies on the mathematical models of the collective behavior of organisms to apply them to algorithms for optimization problems is attracting. However, the current state of mathematical models is far from understanding the essence of biological behavior, and as a bridge to this understanding, it is helpful to conduct research using physical systems that can involve various interaction mechanisms to simulate living organisms. In this talk, I will present a study in which self-propelled colloidal particles are used as ants and pheromone interaction is implemented using photo-thermal/hydrodynamic effects and a phase-change material.
