[16p-A401-7] Characterization of dye-sensitized solar cell under PWM lighting

Kazuya Tada1 (1.Univ. of Hyogo)

Keywords:Dye-sensitized solar cell, Indoor light energy harvesting, PWM illumination

While amorphous Si (a-Si) solar cells have been used for indoor photovoltaics, dye-sensitized solar cells with higher efficiency have recently become commercially available. Characteristic evaluation under pulse width modulation (PWM) illumination that repeats ON and OFF in a short period revealed not only that the dye-sensitized solar cell underperforms under the PWM illumination against CW illumination but that this effect is found to be reduced by increasing the PWM frequency unlike the effect found in a-Si solar cell which does not have frequency dependence.
