The 1T phase of MoS2 is drawing attention to the use of various devices including super capacitors and sensors. However, the fabrication process of 1T MoS2 is not yet established. Although it is already known that X-ray irradiation onto the 2H phase of MoS2 results in a crystal phase transition to 1T, the mechanism behind the transition is not yet fully understood. The present study aims at the understanding of the mechanism. Investigating the phase transition from 2H to 1T with an X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy demonstrates significant influence of the base material on the transition.
